Housing
The Fiskars Corporation has renovated the Fiskars Village Artist Residency house, situated in the very heart of Fiskars Village. The house has two separate apartments in two floors, with private bathrooms and kitchens:
- The smaller studio houses 1-2 persons and has a large, fully equipped kitchen, bathroom and living room with sleeping alcove. The smaller studio artist will also have a large heated basement space with running water, best suited for rough or large scale work. The basement can also be used for workshops, artist talks, screenings or exhibitions. The smaller apartment only has one 120cm wide bed so it is best suitable for a single person or a couple.
- The larger apartment has a large, fully equipped kitchen, a living room with a sofa bed, a bathroom, two toilets, a workroom and a bedroom with a double bed. The larger apartment can host a maximum of 2 adults + 2 children or temporary guests. A baby cot is available at the house.
Both apartments have washing machines and dish washers. Simple bicycles are available for the visitors. Neither pets nor smoking are permitted inside the building. A mobile phone and a wireless broadband internet connection are provided at the house, free of charge. Outgoing phone calls are paid for by the artist. The apartment should be throughly cleaned and emptied by the artist at departure .
Whilst no equipment or tools are supplied at the house, other spaces and/or equipment may be rented in Fiskars. Please note however, that the cost of these facilities must be paid by the resident artist and all contacts/agreements are made by the artist her/himself. The village has a wood fired kiln that can be rented for ceramic firing. There are private wood, boat making, jewellery, ceramic, textile, stone, glass and paper workshops in Fiskars, amongst others. Please check the Onoma members list for current work studios in the village.
